Smoke alarm batteries often go untested and sometimes smoke alarms are even seen as a nuisance when you burn the toast, but please remember these devices can save your life, so it is important to invest in a quality battery and check it regularly.
We recommend using a lithium battery in your smoke alarm as they can last anything up to 10 years (this does not mean your smoke alarm should go untested for 10 years).
There are other valid options such as alkaline or zinc chloride but remember alkaline won’t last anywhere near as long as lithium, and zinc chloride won’t last anywhere near as long as Alkaline batteries in your smoke alarm.
